Because community
is a public
good
RENEWport activates community to make Newport a city for all to thrive.
Become a Volunteer at Pell Elementary School
Volunteers meaningfully support our kids by connecting Newport students to the broader community, helping to improve school attendance, and by fostering a love of reading.
Volunteers Sought for Pell Elementary School Greeters, Library Workers
A popular volunteer initiative to greet students as they arrive at Claiborne Pell Elementary School and help in the school’s library began its second year in action at the beginning of the new school year and is seeking additional volunteers.
RENEWport volunteers return to Pell for a second year of morning greetings
Greeters start Wednesday with the first day of school; library volunteers begin in October, and RENEWport is looking for more of both.
Letter to the editor: Pell Elementary has no full-time librarian. Volunteers are filling the gap
RENEWport cannot solve Newport’s budget or school staffing issues. We are doing what we can to help children now. We believe Newport’s schoolchildren belong to all of us. When they thrive, the city flourishes.
Newport nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and businesses provide a variety of services free of charge. We invite you to search and review the calendar to find needed resources for you, your family, or a neighbor.
